Confidence is Usually an Imitation

What would you think if I told you people who seem the most confident sometimes have the most insecurities?

Let’s face it. We all have things that make us feel insecure. And just because nobody says it, doesn’t mean it’s not true.

The world tells us to exude confidence because confidence is key, which, yes, confidence is key for a lot of things. But, it’s okay to not feel confident all the time. It’s okay to not feel good about yourself, doubt yourself, or overthink sometimes. It happens.

I’m not sure what your perception of me might be, but the confidence I carry isn’t always there. And neither is it for anyone else. There is no one on the face of this earth who is confident all of the time. And even in the moments they feel most confident, they will still be able to find gaps in their own confidence.

We could sit here and talk about how to become more confident. We might say something like take care of your skin, go to the gym, wear clothes that suit your body type and make you feel attractive, but all those things would be superficial.

This is why you might feel confident one day, but not the next. Superficial confidence only lasts for a moment, or until you take your makeup off at the end of the day.

Build Your Confidence on Something Deeper

I'm not saying don't work on your confidence or do things that make you feel more confident, but I am saying make sure the core of your confidence comes from something deeper than the outside fluff. Then, by all means, do what you must to build your confidence.

We sometimes get tricked into thinking that just appearing confident is enough. If you're not actually confident, whatever confidence you pretend to have will still leave you feeling bad on the inside.

However, when you work on building yourself up on a good foundation, that's when your confidence really begins to stick. And building your confidence or lack of confidence in other people's approval is not the way either. It Doesn't Matter What They Think.

The only confidence I have that stays constant is God. Hear me out. My confidence isn't in myself. In fact, it can’t be. I'm imperfect, I overthink, at times I doubt myself and I mess up. But, I find the foundation of my confidence and security in knowing that a perfect God, who never messes up always has my back, and I build from there.

The next time you feel bad about yourself, remind yourself that most people have simply just mastered the art of carrying what looks like confidence.

You have the chance to build actual confidence and not just keep trying to fake it till you make it. And if you struggle with having confidence in your body, this is a must-read:
